7. Did you just buy your house through a Real Estate agent? Ask them if they can recommend a reputable septic tank contractor they are familiar with. Again check them out on the Better Business Bureau.
Unless your particular septic tank is a newer one and has a special filter it should only need to be pumped out every 3 to 5 years. If the septic water backs up into the home at any point that needs to be looked at by a septic system professional regardless of how long it has been since the last pumping.
So beware of contractors that pump septic tanks telling you your tank needs to be pumped every 6 months or something like that. That is simply not true and no reputable contractor would tell you that.
Ask any prospective contractor how long they have been in business in the county. Ask them for references of people in your area they have done work for. Try to get quotes from at least three different contractors.
